The Golden Rule of Sweet Cart Planning
Setting up a vintage sweet cart or confectionery table is one of the most delightful highlights of any modern British wedding, anniversary, or milestone birthday. However, couples frequently ask the same stressful question: How many sweets do we actually need to buy?
Buy too few, and your cart is stripped bare before the first dance. Buy too many, and you are left with twenty kilograms of sugar to pack in your honeymoon luggage.
The Sweet Cart Calculation Formula
Our confectionery catering team has calculated the sweet consumption habits across hundreds of UK events. The standard industry benchmark is:
- Light Snackers: 75g per guest (best for daytime afternoon teas).
- Standard Sweet Lovers (Recommended): 100g per guest (ideal for evening receptions with alcohol and dancing).
- Generous Favour Bags: 150g per guest (when guests are taking large personalised bags home).
For example, a wedding with 80 evening guests requiring the standard 100g portion needs 8 kilograms of sweets (equivalent to exactly eight of our 1kg pouches).
